Benenden School Leadership Team Visiting BBSG

Last week, the BBSG community was delighted to welcome representatives of the Governing Council and Senior Management Team of our partner, the Benenden School in the UK, to visit the school in Guangzhou.

Ms. Samantha Price, Headmistress, the Hon Anna Birkett, Chairman of Governing Council and Chairman of Nominations Committee, and Mr. Steve Miller, First Deputy toured the school site, visited various subject classrooms, and exchanged different ideas with the BBSG Senior Leadership Team on teaching and learning activities, boarding, pastoral care and fundamental aspects of students’ campus life. 

Our guests met with some students during lesson breaks and enjoyed lunch at the school dining hall with another group of students. Their overall impression was one of great positivity, “It is very impressive to see how organised everything is, as a 6-week-old new school. We can’t wait to share all about it with our students back in the UK and look forward to future collaborations between the two schools.” 

It was the Hon Anna Birkett’s first visit to BBSG. “It was great to see the smiles on all the students’ faces as we toured the school. It felt pretty momentous to drive up to the school for the first time after three years of seeing images online and I was very impressed by the campus and the facilities. We hope the families in Guangzhou and the Greater Bay Area of Southern China are equally impressed when they come to visit and that the school roll builds steadily from here on.”

Our guests also sat in a meeting with our parent representatives, getting to know their experience and expectations of the school and exchanging ideas on education. 

The Benenden School has been an important partner for BBSG, especially in the preparation for our inaugural school year. Sharing the same philosophy in education, the two schools join hands in opening up more opportunities in education and event exchange for their students, as well as for the families in the Greater Bay Area.
