The BBSG VEX teams participated in major domestic competitions for the first time. Congratulations on their double championships!
As the largest round in West China for this season, the competition was intense, with approximately 1,000 participants from 300 teams nationwide.
For all students, it was challenging to collaborate with teams they just met onsite, and manage to set up effective routes and strategies for the robots within a limited time.
Our Junior Secondary School team excelled in the finals as First Place. In the finals, students first analysed the alliance team and the robots' performance, then devised strategies to win the competition with a high score of 129.
Our three Primary School teams, with the youngest student being 8 years old, participated in major VEX competitions for the first time. They collaborated under pressure and advanced to the finals. Learning from the previous rounds, the three teams exceeded expectations and won the championship, as well as Fifth Place and Sixth Place.
Supervisor of the team, our STEAM Innovation Lead, Mr.Guo shared, "we selected potential students for our VEX teams at the beginning of the school year. They joined the training every Friday after school and on Sunday afternoons. External coaches and BBSG STEAM team teachers taught them to get familiar with the rules and guided them in strategic tactics. They have been trained as a team for only a month and achieved excellent competition results. We are very proud of them."
The competition was intensive with tight schedules. To maintain advantages, Mr. Guo and the coaches provided instant support to the teams in tuning and repairing the robots during the breaks.
The rest of the BBSG VEX teams are taking VEX IQ basic training, preparing themselves to support the teams in future competitions and events.
We believe that more and more BBSG students with talents in STEAM and innovation will come to the spotlight, and we look forward to more good news from our VEX teams in the upcoming International Open.
