BBSG Sports Day: Four Houses' First Debut

On 29th November, BBSG held the first Sports Day where students were fully engaged and enjoyed the excitement and fun in sports competitions and our four House teams had their first debut.

In track events, student athletes put on every effort in their sprints, as well as worked closely on team strategy in races. All was very close at the finishing line. In field events, every aim, every throw and every step before the jump represented our students’ hard work and excellence in sports.

The cheering crowd of students, teachers and parents built up a rousing atmosphere, waving colorful flags to support their Houses.

During event breaks, BBSG musicians brought to us brilliant drum solo and vocal solo performances, infusing the day with more excitement.

Solid logistics support by PTA

Our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) volunteers have been preparing for the engagement and refreshment booths for a month. Facial painting was the most popular activity of the day, while the refreshment booth was also welcomed by the athletes and audience.

Towards the ends of the morning Primary School and afternoon Junior Secondary School sessions, the Parent-Teacher Tug of War and relay were breath-taking. All adult participants set good example for the community with sportsmanship and BBSG's core values of Courage and Talents.

First debut of the four BBSG Houses

The House System is a popular structure in schools worldwide that mix up students from different grades. All school staff will also be assigned to a House. Students can earn House points for themselves and for their House for different aspects. Good behaviour, successful accomplishments, competition participation and awards, will all be recognised with House points. It enables students to find fellow schoolmates with similar interests beyond age or grade barriers, developing a sense of self-identity and collective consciousness.

The four BBSG school houses were named after plants with positive symbolism, showing BBSG’s values and expectations. BBSG eagerly looks forward to witnessing each BBSG student develop into a visionary leader with charming individualities.

There were also awards for each event to reward the student athletes not only for their accomplishments, but also their participations in sports activities. Congratulations to all! 

Thank you all for the efforts and great performance on the day. The Sports Day was successfully wrapped up, however, sports and physical exercise are embedded in our daily life. We hope every BBSG community member maintain good health physically and mentally, while embrace every opportunity and challenge in study and life.
