11 Apr 2024

BBSG is dedicated to providing students with a well-rounded academic experience enriched by performing arts. Guided by our core values, including "Openness," our mission is to embrace the first year of BBSG, and nurture curiosity, creativity, confidence, and collaboration in a supportive learning environment. And Openness becomes the annual theme for our first Performing Arts Season.

BBSG proudly announces the first productions in its state-of-the-art Performing Arts Centre with the debut performances of "Swamped" for grades 1-4 and "Scoundrels and Scallywags" for grades 5-8.

Openness in Action

Under the direction of the school’s Performing Arts team, students will take to the stage in these captivating productions where everyone must be open to each other to collaborate and find the treasures.

"Openness is a fundamental value at BBSG, especially as we educate internationally minded learners," says Stephen Delano, Director of Performing Arts. "In the performing arts, students learn to express themselves freely, explore diverse perspectives, and collaborate with others from different backgrounds. These experiences foster cultural understanding, empathy, and respect, preparing our students to thrive in an increasingly globalised world."

Alice W (G7) from the prop-making group shared her understanding of Openness: “while making the props, it was normal to have lots of challenges and sometimes we complained about each other. But in the end, if we wanted to solve the problem, we have to be open to other people’s ideas and just do it together. Teamwork makes the dream work.”

The Performing Arts Centre represents a significant part of BBSG. The 280-seated end-stage theatre and Black Box Theatre provide students with dedicated spaces to explore their creativity and express themselves through the arts. This state-of-the-art facility will serve as a centre for artistic innovation and collaboration for years to come.
