Behind the Scene of the Theatre Production

18 Apr 2024

Behind the scenes of the Scoundrels and Scallywags production has always been a lively and colourful place, with students and teachers living their creativity and waving their "magic wands” to make all the props for their own drama productions.

Backstage Essentials

From the vibrant costumes lined up on the clothing racks in the dance studio, designed and made by Jan Wheeler in Bahrain, organised and managed by Ms Guan, to the lights and sounds arranged by Mr Pong and Ms Lan, along with the transforming stage makeup designed by students and instructed by Ms Lan, the experience of Scoundrels and Scallywags will be worth all your expectations.

But the most exciting and magical part goes to our very own BBSG backstage "Art" team: students worked together to build pirate ships, trees and island scenes with paints and crafts in the set shop.

Develop Competencies Working Backstage

The students responsible for the set design demonstrated their leadership skills and had complete ownership over the visual aspects of their first BBSG production. The four founding leaders of the backstage team (Alice W, Shaun C, Angela W and Dora L) managed the available materials and resources. They supervised different student teams to finally achieve a great stage effect. Working backstage, they have truly developed and displayed each of the BBSG competencies, demonstrating their creativity, collaboration skills and curiosity

Shaun C in 6A led the design and making of the two pirate ships with his team. While bringing his designs to life, Shaun has also developed his skills at engaging the team to work collaboratively and produced two great set pieces together.

Alice W, Dora L and Angela W in 7A took the lead in creating the desert island scenery. While mixing their gradients of yellow to orange for the sandy beach and painting the blue seas with its expressive white foam, the girls excitedly shared why they wanted to take leading roles in the set design.
