Shaun shared, “This competition made me realise that every participant has something worth learning from, so we should never be content with our current position. Each member of our team tried our very best, which led to our success.”
Earlier this year, Dora and Yvonne excelled in the "2024 World Scholar's Cup Regional Round of Foshan" and continued to set higher goals.
Dora, competing again, demonstrated the confidence of a seasoned participant: “I noticed a significant improvement in my English skills, and my experience from the first competition helped me remain calm when faced with new challenges. Dora and Shaun shared that The World Scholar's Cup spans a broad range of knowledge areas, however, this time they encountered several concepts they had studied in daily classes at BBSG, which gave them an unexpected advantage.
Yvonne discovered her passion for debate during the World Scholar's Cup. Competing alongside exceptional students from Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen, her team achieved first place, and she was awarded one of the Top Speakers. “The competition went smoothly because I had thoroughly prepared in advance. However, what really matters is having quick reflexes and critical thinking during the debate. Identifying logical flaws in our opponents’ arguments and presenting my points were incredibly rewarding moments for me. That’s why I love debate.”
BBSG QUEST counsellors also urged her to register for the Australasian Junior Debate Championships for further challenges and achievements, where she was honoured with the Best Speaker award.
Their success set a remarkable example for other BBSG students, embodying our values of "Mindset," "Learning," and "Purpose," while demonstrating a strong dedication to excellence on the global stage.
BBSG strongly encourages students to participate in various competitions and is committed to creating larger platforms for them to challenge themselves.
In the near future, BBSG will host the "2024 World Scholar's Cup Regional Round," bringing together many more outstanding students from the Greater Bay Area and across the country for vibrant academic exchanges. We look forward to their impressive performance!
