Enquiry Week: Explore Health & Well-being
09 Jan 2026
Enquiry Week, a cornerstone of BBSG's project-based learning and COMPLETE education, challenges students to address real-world issues through teamwork, research, and creative solutions for a better future.

This semester, we continued exploring UN Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on Goal 3: "Good Health and Well-being." This global challenge resonates deeply with every BBSG family, prompting our students to explore both personal and global perspectives.

Centred around the overarching theme of "Health and Well-being", students in Grades 1–2 investigate "Healthy Habits," Grades 3–4 explore "Personal Health Challenges," and Grade 5 examine "Public Health and Safety."
Within the school environment, interdisciplinary, inquiry-based learning integrates technology, mathematics, engineering, and the arts through diverse pedagogical approaches such as survey design and statistical analysis, hands-on experiments, debate competitions, and scenario-based dramatisations. Students engage in authentic contexts, posing research questions, analysing data, and developing targeted solutions.

Understanding our body

Creating stop-motion animations about immune responses

Brainstorming public health crisis responses across different sectors

Debating individual rights versus collective needs during health emergencies
Additionally, the programme goes beyond traditional classroom boundaries by organising visits to leading institutions such as BGI Genomics, Dentis International Dental Clinic, Guangming Traditional Chinese Medicine Port, and Junfeng Life Sciences Museum. Activities include making traditional herbal sachets, conducting DNA extraction procedures, designing healthy hydration plans, and practising postural correction techniques. These experiences enable students to witness cutting-edge biotechnology applications, such as genomic sequencing and intelligent Chinese medicine pharmacies.
This experiential learning model aims to broaden scientific literacy, foster innovative thinking, and cultivate social responsibility—empowering each student to become an advocate and practitioner of healthy living.

G6-9 students dived deeper with off-campus experiential learning journeys:
G6 to Zhuhai
Students learned about food safety and nutrition science at Lee Kum Kee and BY-HEALTH factories and got firsthand knowledge on ecological health at mangrove wetlands and dolphin conservation centres

G7-8 to Changsha
Students studied ancient wellness wisdom at Hunan Museum and Mawangdui Han Tombs; they also explored environmental and mental health connections at Yuelu Academy and Yanghu Wetlands

G9 in GBA
Students investigated future healthcare technologies and career prospects in GBA's leading biotech and smart manufacturing firms

Through documentaries and collaborative PBL planning, students carried specific research questions into their three-day field studies. They tested their hypotheses and gathered evidence through observation, interviews, and teamwork along the learning journey.
This cross-regional, interdisciplinary inquiry deepened students' understanding of well-being's multiple dimensions. They discovered how personal health choices, cultural wisdom, technological advancement, and environmental protection together form the foundation of human life.
