A Real-world "Work" Experience
11 Apr 2024
In the rapidly evolving era of AI, soft skills have become increasingly essential. Abilities like teamwork, leadership, and communication aren't just crucial criteria for evaluating students during the university counselling process; they're also fundamental for individuals to thrive in our ever-changing society.
At BBSG, we are committed to leveraging diverse resources and connecting our learning community with the real world. This empowers students to apply their knowledge, acquire skills through real-world experience, and continually enhance their core competencies, preparing them to be future-ready.
On March 23rd, CTF Education Group celebrated the Grand Opening of the Education Hub in Panyu, Guangzhou, with over 500 guests from the Greater Bay Area and around the world.
Grand opening of the Education Hub
BBSG became the first Partner School of the Education Hub, and our students took part in the Opening Ceremony in different ways, taking on accountable responsibilities while demonstrating their talents and skills.
Co-hosting Alongside a Performing Arts Master
A welcome dinner was hosted to express gratitude to the distinguished guests who travelled to the city for the grand launch event.
Two BBSG students, Bamboo B (G8) and Yvonne W (G7), co-hosted the event alongside Mr Paul Tines, former Executive Director of Broadway Asia.
Three Schools' Joint Performance of Lion Dance, Embracing Traditional Lingnan Culture
The event was punctuated by a traditional Lingnan-style Lion Dance featuring a cross-regional collaboration of student performers from the Victoria Education Organisation in Hong Kong (VEO), Benenden Bilingual School Guangzhou, and Benenden School in the UK.
Seven BBSG students were the drummer and percussionists, infusing the performance with powerful and rhythmic beats. VEO children brought the lions to life on stage with upbeat dance and blessing Fai Chun rolls (traditional Chinese pull-up posters with calligraphy), written by students from Benenden School in the UK during their Chinese cultural classes. This signified the deep friendship and close bonds shared among students from the three schools.
Michelle C (G6) and Dora L (G7) graced the stage after the Lion Dance performance, presenting their musical talents with the Zhongruan and on the piano, weaving together a harmonious melody that fused cultures and showcased the confidence of our younger generation.
Introducing Campus Life at BBSG in Chinese and English
After the ceremony, guests were led on a tour of the approximately 100,000 sqm Education Hub by the professional docent team to experience the implementation of future-ready education with the support of advanced facilities.
At the Performing Arts Centre, Sports Centre, and Innovation Centre, our student docents were well-prepared to introduce their authentic campus life and learning experiences at BBSG in both Chinese and English. Stories of students' creative, exploration and growth journey took place at every corner and space of the campus every day, where we find vivid examples of how BBSG’s education philosophy has been put into practice.
The impressive performance and confident presentation mirrored the dedication, resilience, and talent of BBSG students.
The drummer and percussionists spent several weekends rehearsing. What they gained was not only an improvement in their musical skills but also an enhancement in their teamwork skills.
Instead of practising in classrooms, student docents, MCs and performers successfully impressed the guests from around the world on a real-world stage, honing their expressive skills, accumulating stage experience, gaining self-confidence and becoming a better version of themselves.
We appreciate the hard work and dedication of all BBSG students and staff for the event, and look forward to offering more opportunities for them to gain real-world experience, continuously enhance their skills, and fully prepare for the future.
