De Lodge: An Exciting Life for Boarding Students After School
De Lodge serves as a second home for BBSG boarding students, and a team of caring educators who are here to support their holistic growth. The BBSG boarding team comprises the Head of Boarding, House Parents, Tutors, and Matrons, all dedicated to ensuring students' academic, personal, and physical well-being.
——Mr Bobby Zhang
Pastoral care is an integral part of the comprehensive education at Benenden School in the UK. Since the establishment of BBSG De Lodge, there has been close collaboration between Benenden School UK and the BBSG team. Benenden School UK has shared decades of experience with us by sending House Parents with over 20 years of service for visits and has maintained a strong relationship with the BBSG team. At BBSG, we strive to adapt and implement the successful practices of Benenden UK. We integrate academics, character education, and daily life to offer students a rewarding and enriching boarding experience.

Holistic Development: A "Home" and an Extension of the "Classroom"
Academic Development
Boarding students in Primary and Junior Secondary schools have dedicated evening study sessions and half an hour of "MyOn" reading time, either online or with physical books. During these study sessions, subject teachers provide homework assistance, supporting students in understanding class content when needed.
Additionally, the boarding staff offers a variety of elective courses that complement academic subjects and enhance students' learning experiences.
Another prominent feature of De Lodge is its immersive English learning environment. Students are constantly surrounded by English, which fosters their language acquisition.

Exploring Interests and Passions
We offer abundant opportunities for students to pursue their interests and develop self-management skills, empowering them to take charge of their learning and lives.
——Mr Bobby Zhang
The first floor of De Lodge is equipped with music practice rooms and study rooms. Common areas of various sizes are available on alternating floors, along with a well-equipped and cosy kitchen. Relaxation and entertainment facilities include board games, billiards, a wide selection of reading materials, and, of course, televisions. Additionally, each afternoon, students have one hour of free exploration time after school to engage in activities that interest them.
Subject teachers actively participate in our boarding programme, providing diverse clubs and elective courses for students to explore their passions and interests.

Foster Independence: Becoming "Junior Adults"
Independence is crucial for boarding students. We support both their emotional well-being and daily lives to nurture their independence while they are away from home. This preparation equips them for future boarding experiences at overseas universities.
——Ms Emma Tan
In addition to learning how to maintain tidy personal spaces and manage their laundry, every student is assigned specific responsibilities. Furthermore, some students even take on leadership roles to assist teachers.
Elvis F, a Grade 7 student, serves as the boarding student representative. He assists teachers in supervising the use of electronic devices, leads nighttime reading activities, and encourages a balanced diet during breakfast.
Apart from personal care, the Boarding team works closely with the school counselling team to support students' emotional well-being, addressing issues such as separation anFxiety and pre-exam stress.
Every week, school counsellors at De Lodge organise engaging activities tailored to the well-being of each student. They collaborate closely with the boarding staff to ensure the positive development of all boarding students.
Cross-Age Group Living: Rich Social Activities
As members of a tightly-knit living community, our aim is to foster a sense of belonging for every student at De Lodge and to cultivate social and teamwork skills through diverse activities and vibrant community life.
——Mr Bobby Zhang
In De Lodge, 2-4 students will be allocated to share a room, to encourage social interaction and facilitate peer support.
Furthermore, the boarding staff organises house competitions, signature activities, and monthly birthday celebrations. These events not only challenge students' life skills but also empower them to design and manage events they enjoy. Additionally, students have the opportunity to create their own clubs, connecting with peers who share similar interests.
