Excellence for All: Our 3-Year Driving Force

In September 2023, BBSG commenced its journey towards Future World Ready Complete Education, aiming to achieve our vision: to provide a purpose-driven, world-class education in China that centres on future readiness, paving the way for success at every stage and phase of life. 

As we reflect on our inaugural year, marked by both triumphs and challenges, we embark on our second academic year with a renewed focus: "Excellence for All" – a commitment that will guide our development and success moving forward.

What does "Excellence for All" mean?

We firmly believe in the boundless potential of every member of the BBSG community to become a better version of themselves.

We're raising the bar, infusing excellence into every lesson and task.

And it's about making each day count, pushing boundaries and achieving more than we thought possible.

"Excellence for All" is not only our blueprint for the future but also a commitment to the community. In the coming year, we will implement a series of initiatives that will allow us to further assess, review, and raise standards in teaching, learning, and operations. This includes setting and closely referencing our academic benchmark, offering a more comprehensive range of co-curricular and weekend extra-curricular activities, providing more targeted programmes for students across core subjects, strengthening our student development programmes, and improving school-parent communication.

Empowering Our Learning Community with World-Class Resources

BBSG upholds high standards in our recruitment of teachers and educators around the world. We prioritise those with professional expertise, extensive experience, as well as a strong commitment to education. These educators foster a positive and innovative learning community at BBSG, nurturing students to become lifelong learners and achieve greater academic success.

This year, we will launch the T-CAP Teacher Development Plan, which will establish rigorous teaching standards and further enhance the strengths of our faculty.

At BBSG, our teachers are experts in individualised instruction, recognising that each student has their own learning pace. By integrating curriculum design with differentiated learning needs, we uphold our principle of inclusive teaching in core subjects. This ensures that students are both challenged and supported at the appropriate level, leading to greater academic achievements.

BBSG students had the privilege of meeting Dr. David Cardwell, Pro-Vice-Chancellor from Cambridge University, during one of our Education Hub Talk Series.

During the Education Hub Summer Masters Series, BBSG students had the hands-on experience of vehicle assembly with the support and guidance of automobile engineers at an AUDI factory.

At our new academic year opening ceremony, Professor Wei XU, Director of the Nanosystem Fabrication Facility (GZ) at HKUST (Guangzhou), served as our World-of-Work (WOW) guest speaker. The BBSG students got insights into both the professional and fun sides of chip manufacturing.

Supported by the Education Hub, BBSG provides over 100 Enrichment Programme options, enabling our students to explore their passions and talents.

Pastoral Care, 

Nurturing the Growth of Hearts and Minds

At BBSG, Academic Excellence and Pastoral Care are the two key pillars of our Future World Ready Complete Education. Building on Benenden School's century of experience, we've developed a holistic approach to both student and staff wellbeing that reaches far beyond the classroom.

This year, BBSG integrated Social Emotional Learning (SEL) into the daily curriculum for the first time. SEL skills have been recognised as the fifth key indicator in international student assessments alongside mathematics, reading, science, and problem-solving abilities. These skills can effectively enhance students' learning performance, and well-being, as well as social engagement. We believe this will equip BBSG students with the essential "soft skills" for future success.

Additionally, our boarding programme has undergone significant enhancements this year with the official opening of our "Cui Lodge" and a rapidly expanding boarding community. Building on Benenden School's boarding system, BBSG offers students not only a place to learn and live, but also opportunities for personal growth in self-management, social and leadership skills, and the enduring joy of school life.

International and Experienced Management and Advisory Team

To drive the above initiatives, we have expanded and further strengthened our leadership team at BBSG. Our new Senior Advisory Team will bring a wealth of experiences in localising international best practices that will further raise the professional standards in school operations. We have enhanced leadership accountability, prioritised team communication and collaboration, and diversified our school leadership and staff to accomplish “Excellence for All”.

BBSG's Advisory and Senior Leadership teams bring decades of experience from management roles in international schools worldwide. They offer global perspectives, strong professional backgrounds, and a lifelong dedication to education. Their expertise will guide our strategic and daily operations with clarity, professionalism, and a commitment to supporting the educational needs of students, parents, and staff.

BBSG Senior Advisors Dr. Arnett Edwards and Ms. Anna Adasiewicz led a professional development workshop for BBSG teachers.
