BBSG was privileged to host Professor Chai Jijie, the 2023 Future Science Prize laureate in Life Science, who delivered an inspiring keynote address to our community. Speaking from his experience in immunology research, Prof. Chai's message about embracing curiosity and resilience in scientific pursuit deeply resonated with our students.

During the launch event, BBSG students had the opportunity to participate in exclusive discussions with distinguished scientists, such as Prof. Chai Jijie, Dr. Zhao Bingran, a researcher at the National Hybrid Rice Research and Development Centre, and Prof. Zhang Fumin, the director of the Cheng Kar-Shun Robotics Institute. 

Innovation is mainly about taking risks, failing, and learning from mistakes. By providing enough room for errors, we create an environment where everyone can experiment and explore. Don’t just focus on the end results. Make every task count.

Cutting-edge Science Experiences

Besides gaining inspiration from experts, students participated in a series of innovative workshops:

In the "AI and Mini-programs" workshop by WeChat Education, students explored AI-assisted coding and learned about various coding languages and interactions

In the Future Robotics Workshop by Unitree, students examined programming commands and sensory instructions for bionic robotic hands

Students gained insights into genetic science in "Sports Gene Testing" experience activity by BGI

We created a compost bin using different biological materials, similar to baking a cake. Observing the biodegradation process through temperature changes gave me a hands-on understanding that extended beyond textbook learning.

The Future Science Prize Youth Exhibition Hall

The Future Science Prize, often referred to as "China's Nobel Prize," opened its first-ever youth exhibition hall this year in the Innovation Centre. BBSG students were given a unique opportunity to explore immersive exhibits showcasing the contributions of Chinese scientists to global technological advancement.

On the opening day, BBSG students acted as exhibition ambassadors. They welcomed international visitors and confidently presented their learning experiences in both Chinese and English. 

The exhibition featured youth-friendly content on topics like rice breeding, quantum communication, and AI deep learning. This made complex scientific concepts easy to understand through interactive displays and practical experiments.

In our discovery-rich environment, students gain more than knowledge - they embrace the fundamental principle that science serves humanity. Through exposure to transformative innovations across industries, they develop a profound understanding of technology's role in shaping our future.

At BBSG, we're preparing our students to step confidently onto the innovation stage, whether in the Greater Bay Area or globally, ready to make their mark on the future.

Our students and teachers recently collaborated with Unitree robots and robotic dogs in a performance that demonstrated the seamless integration of technology and artistry, highlighting the boundless potential of human-machine interaction
