Pursuing Better Education at BBSG
10 Jun 2025
Just one year ago, Jackquelin’s family—who run a toy factory in Chenghai, Shantou—were like most others, concerned about the dilemma of choosing a school for their child's transition from primary to junior secondary education: Should their child attend a prestigious local school like Chaoshan Experimental School, competing fiercely among "study maniacs" and aspiring to enter a "985" university? Or should they give Jackquelin a happy adolescence by sending her to a private school known for its emphasis on holistic education?
At the mother's insistence, Jackquelin eventually went to Guangzhou, the provincial capital hundreds of kilometres away, enrolling in a private bilingual school—BBSG.
A year later, witnessing the remarkable transformation of Jackquelin—now in Grade 7, almost like a "metamorphosis" story—her parents felt deeply gratified. Not only has her English improved dramatically, but she has also become very polite, and her overall temperament has significantly matured.

Her academic performance and interactions with others have noticeably improved, and she now possesses a strong internal drive. Previously enrolled in various training classes, she now has her own ideas. She has proactively proposed learning auto racing and playing rugby. She has a passion for visual arts and economics, and it seems she has boundless energy every day.

At school, Jackquelin has met many talented and versatile classmates. She once shared a room with an outstanding top student with whom she often studied. She has also had face-to-face interactions with visiting professors and scholars from prestigious institutions like Cambridge and Oxford. Her mother says that her horizons have broadened, and the subtle influences around her have helped her start to understand the importance of pursuing her passions.

Recently, she offered many ideas for toys developed by the family factory. Her father arranged a discussion between her and the R&D department, suggesting that the "future successor" is steadily rising.
Now, Jackquelin’s mother plans to send her younger brother and sister to BBSG as well. Although she can only visit them once or twice a month, BBSG teachers and House Parents show meticulous care for the children, which reassures her greatly.
Jackquelin’s mother shared, "Her homeroom teacher often stands by her side and helps persuade me. For example, when it comes to choosing courses, if my opinion differs from Jackquelin’s, the teacher suggests I respect her interests and wishes. I also hope she can do more exercise, and the House Parents often play table tennis and basketball with her. These small details really move me."
“I want my child to study in a school within the Greater Bay Area—to see more, broaden her horizons, and step into a bigger world in the future.” Her heartfelt words reflect the hopes of many parents from other regions.
