Third Place at VEX World Championship
26 May 2025
In May 2025, our young innovators made history at the VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas, Texas. BBSG students formed two teams to compete in the Primary and Junior Secondary divisions. Among over 400 top teams from more than 70 countries, BBSG Primary students achieved an impressive third place globally after winning their division championship!

BBSG Innovators on the Global Stage
"We just focused on performing our best. Teamwork was key — having the most advanced robot isn’t everything. Our collaboration helped us achieve a great score," reflects Jason W, emphasising that great teammates matter more than perfect machinery.
For most BBSG competitors, this was their first appearance at the World Championship. Ranea Z shared, "We met incredibly strong teams in Dallas and saw new robot designs we hadn’t encountered before. It was also fantastic practising English while collaborating with international teams."
She also proudly noted that Chinese teams stood out for both their technical design and teamwork skills. Although the Junior Secondary team did not reach the award stage, they learned, grew, and are determined to return stronger next season.
A Season of Growth:
From GBA to the World
Throughout the 2024-2025 season, BBSG’s VEX group progressed from initial formation to mastering complex technical challenges, developing strong team dynamics, and securing numerous victories along the way.
The impact extends beyond competition. These students have discovered a passion for technology and inspired more students to engage in STEAM learning.

The Transformative Power of Robotics Education
VEX robotics integrates physics, mathematics, computer programming, digital prototyping, and design, offering students comprehensive exposure to STEAM fields while developing vital skills in teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving.
Each team needs different roles like drivers and loaders. At first, we had conflicts over role assignments, but we learned to accommodate each other. We realised that to excel in any position, you need to develop the skills it demands - that's how we maximize our team's potential. Throughout the season, we've made significant progress in both programming and construction techniques.
—— Ranea Z (Year 8)
This embodies BBSG's vision for our robotics programme. We aim to develop students who can master cutting-edge mechanical and programming skills within an interdisciplinary framework. Through teamwork, they cultivate essential communication and collaboration abilities. World-class competitions help build their resilience and decision-making capabilities under pressure. Most importantly, engaging with global peers broadens their international perspective while showcasing the innovative spirit of young Chinese talent on the world stage.
