“WOW" Talk by A BBSG Parent

"How small are the structures inside a microchip? Take a moment to feel a strand of your hair. It's quite thin, isn't it? Well, the structures inside a chip are even smaller. So, how do you think such intricate structures are manufactured?"
This intriguing introduction served as a unique "first lesson" about chip manufacturing for our new academic year, delivered by Professor Wei XU from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) during the opening ceremony.
Although chip manufacturing might seem distant from our daily lives, Prof. Xu's engaging presentation captivated our students. We were intrigued to learn that chip structures are "micro-nano" in scale. We also learned that chip production rooms could be even cleaner than hospital operating theatres and that manufacturing a chip is similar to building in Minecraft!

"There's a significant knowledge gap between the everyday products we use and the high-tech chips. The way to bridge this gap is through learning. By gaining knowledge, we empower ourselves to master different tools and unlock the freedom to achieve our dreams. "
In addition to his occupational role as a technology expert, Prof. Xu is also a BBSG parent and is making his debut as a "World of Work Mentor" for our students. By offering students a unique perspective into the realm of scientific research, Prof. Xu unveils the intricacies of cutting-edge technology, inspiring students to pursue excellence and innovation in their future scientific endeavours.

At BBSG, we believe that parents play a crucial role as career mentors to our students. Our unique "World of Work" programme brings together parents from different professional backgrounds, such as research, healthcare, e-commerce, media, hospitality, and more. They share their expertise and provide opportunities for our students to explore various career pathways.
BBSG Signature Programme:
World of Work (“WOW”)
As we enter the AI era, students will be navigating a future beyond our imagination. Traditional jobs are disappearing, while new ones are emerging rapidly. Understanding different industries, job roles, and career trends is crucial for them to make informed career choices in the future. It's important for our students to understand and adapt to these changes to be future-ready.
Our "World of Work" (WOW) programme is designed to address this need. Through our vast industry network, students will have the privilege of being at the forefront of a World of Work in flux. From experiential learning to research-based pre-industry programmes, bespoke WOW programmes will provide students with unique first-hand real-world experiences. Students will gain an insider’s look at what it is like to work in different industries and a better understanding and appreciation for what they learn at school and how it relates to careers they wish to pursue; while all developing future-ready competencies.
At BBSG's Children's Fun Day, a Senior Design Consultant from Chow Tai Fook Group and a Partner Artist at Guangzhou K11 shared their experiences in the jewellery design and art industries. Students also participated in workshops led by professionals from the arts, sports, media, and other fields
Global Network:
Where Classroom Meets the Real World
BBSG is the first school in Education Hub. The Hub's pioneering "Kindervarsity" K-12 education model applies the university framework to bring together a community of learners, educators, researchers and industry professionals. With support from the Hub's extensive global network, BBSG students have access to exclusive and industry-leading learning experiences.
The Education Hub and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in Guangzhou (“HKUST (GZ)”) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to provide greater access to advanced STEM experiences to Primary and Secondary School students and collaborate on various educational initiatives to support youth talent development in the Greater Bay Area (GBA)
In the Bioengineering Camp of Education Hub’s Master Series, students visited the advanced Guangzhou Lab and delved into PCR molecular biology techniques and Microfluidic technology. In the Automation and Design Technology Camp, they had hands-on experience in vehicle assembly with the support and guidance of automobile engineers at an AUDI factory in Foshan
As one of our four Signature Programmes at BBSG, the "World of Work" reflects our commitment to Future-ready Complete Education. By exploring and engaging with the current professional landscape, we aim to equip our students with a diverse skill set and the adaptability needed to thrive in an ever-changing and competitive future.
